As the Senior Manager, Benefits you will lead a team focused on delivering market competitive, culturally relevant and comprehensive benefits and perks to support the overall well-being of our employees. Within our Global Compensation & Benefits team, you’ll lead the design, strategic vision and execution of our benefit programs in the US, Netherlands, Germany and other emerging markets where we might expand to. You’ll work with your counterparts in Compensation, Employee Experience, Employer Brand and Talent to ensure that our global benefits program aligns with 1Password’s Total Rewards strategy and appeals to employees and candidates alike.
This role reports to the Director, Compensation & Benefits.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:- Proven experience with designing global benefits packages and leading multiple benefits renewals and open enrolments periods in the US and Europe.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in US benefits administration, and at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Ability to balance multiple priorities with minimal guidance
- Innovation and thinking with a digital mindset
- Strong analytical and organizational skills. Experience with google-suite (sheets, slides)
- Proven ability to manage projects effectively, from planning to execution
- Experience in vendor relationship management, broker management and related RFP process, leave of absence administration & management and administering retirement plans (401K, Pension, and RRSP), managing budgets related to benefit plans, experience providing benefit reporting to Finance and understanding headcount impact for forecasting related expenses.. Experience building and designing international benefit plans.
- Collaboration with other teams – HRIS, Payroll, HRBPs, Finance, Legal, etc.
- Knowledge of global benefits regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced scaling company

What you can expect:- Lead the design and strategic vision for benefits programs across the US, Netherlands, Germany, and emerging markets.
- Analyze benefits and leave program costs, utilization, and effectiveness; recommend and implement changes to optimize value, control costs, and maintain employee satisfaction.
- Continuously evaluate and improve benefits, leave, and accommodation programs using employee feedback and market data to drive engagement and retention.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations in the US, Netherlands, and other regions, including leave programs and accommodations.
- Develop and oversee US leave programs (e.g., parental, disability) to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
- Manage the company’s accommodations program to ensure fairness, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to educate employees on benefits, leaves, accommodations, and wellness programs.
- Collaborate with HR, legal, and finance teams to align benefits and leave policies with total rewards initiatives.
- Oversee integration of benefits data across systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security.
- Work with HRIS, payroll, and other stakeholders to optimize data flow and troubleshoot system issues.
- Conduct regular data audits for US and Netherlands benefits programs, implementing controls to ensure integrity.
- Lead benefits-related projects, including enrolment setups, vendor management, and system implementations, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery.
- Maintain strong relationships with external vendors to optimize benefits offerings and ensure service delivery.
- Monitor vendor performance, ensuring adherence to contract terms and performance agreements.
- Collaborate with internal teams (HRIS, payroll, HRBPs, IT, Finance, Legal) to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
- Provide guidance and ongoing training to the benefits team, fostering a high-performance environment.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive culture that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

USA-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $145,000 USD and $193,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $124,000 CAD and $168,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
