We are looking for a publishing professional with experience in contract negotiation to work on agreements that will advance Spotify’s audiobook growth plan. As the key conduit between publishers and Spotify in Europe, you will play a meaningful role in collaborating with our product, operations, and growth team to capture feedback and influence our ways of working.
In this role, you will identify licensable catalogs, negotiate economic terms and align with book publishers on the scope of the licensed service, and where in the world content will be made available. You will play an important role in cross functional programs around cost management, discoverability, operational improvements, and local growth.

What You'll Do- Identify with Business Unit partners the audiobook catalogs that are of the most interest to Spotify’s listeners
- Manage a content licensing budget and negotiate with publishers to distribute audiobooks on Spotify
- Work with Business Unit partners to enable testing of audiobook value propositions with consumers
- Act as the day-to-day contact of Spotify’s commercial relationship with book publishers
- Think creatively to find new ways to secure rights on favorable economic terms while sharing risk between Spotify and our content partners
- Gather data, analytics and insights from other internal groups to be applied to the development of new initiatives
- Work closely with publishing partners to ensure mutual business goals are met, troubleshoot operational problems and drive success on the platform.
- Work closely with our product teams to feed into the development roadmap of our audiobook product
- Work closely with our cost management, editorial, growth and operational teams on a day to day issues and strategic improvement projects
Who You Are- 3+ years of work experience in the book industry, with a majority of that time spent in digital sales, business affairs or a similar capacity
- You have a detailed understanding of the European audiobook market
- Native-level proficiency in German (preferred, though full professional proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing is also acceptable), along with at least full professional proficiency in English in both spoken and written communication
- You are a skilled negotiator with a track record of deal negotiations in the digital books space and have developed a network of contacts in the book industry
- You are knowledgeable of the current approaches used to license digital books, including the economic models used in the industry between book publishers and services that provide books to consumers
- You are a lifelong learner, a self-starter and someone comfortable with taking smart risks
- You have experience managing a budget for content and/or have been responsible for generating revenue from content licensing
- You have strong analytical skills and the ability to build, iterate and communicate complex financial models.
- You are willing to travel and work across distant time zones
