We are looking for a new band member to join the Spotify Global Tax team as a Senior Director - EMEA and APAC. This newly created position will report into the VP of Tax in New York, and is based in Stockholm, Sweden. In this exciting role, you will lead a team of dedicated tax professionals in a high growth organization.
You will manage the corporate tax obligations for the region, lead the direct tax team members based in Stockholm, India and Singapore and work with your colleagues to advise on the tax considerations of new and existing business lines, provide advice with respect to the tax consequences of contracts and deals, and monitor and assess the impact of tax legislative updates on Spotify. You will collaborate with global tax team members and ensure clear communication and execution across the group. You will enjoy working cross functionally with fantastic bandmates in the finance, business, and tech teams. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences audio.

What You'll Do - Manage the European and Asia Pacific tax operations including oversight of regional corporate tax matters including direct tax and withholding taxes, while working closely with the Global tax function based in New York as well as colleagues in Stockholm
- Lead the direct tax team members in Stockholm, India, and Singapore
- Partner with tax and business colleagues to review and provide comprehensive tax advice on new business lines and contracts
- Work closely with colleagues in legal overseeing corporate tax governance matters, with a specific focus in Luxembourg, Sweden and The Netherlands
- Advise on regional tax considerations of M&A transactions and integration plans
- Partner with Treasury with respect to tax consequences of capital structuring plans
- Partner with the transfer pricing team to ensure positions are clearly and accurately reflected in tax filings and documentation
- Partner with colleagues to support and manage inquiries and audits from tax authorities.
- Work closely with the Reporting team to ensure tax positions are accurately reflected in financial statements
- Oversee tax compliance for the European and Asia Pacific markets, with a specific focus in Sweden, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, India and the UK, in ensuring timely and accurate tax filings and supporting documentation
- Other projects as needed
Who You Are - Strong academic credentials including university degree with relevant education including accounting, law, economics, business administration, or any combination thereof
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience working in Swedish Corporate Tax Law
- Broad experience with European tax regulations impacting multinational corporations
- Industry experience in technology or media coupled with Big 4 or law firm experience is ideal
- Experience with advising on corporate tax considerations for treasury management operations
- Experience in partnering with tax policy teams to ensure corporate tax developments are properly considered and analyzed
- Experience in reviewing complex contracts to identify and advise on tax consequences
- Mergers & Acquisitions experience
- Strong understanding of broad global corporate tax matters including direct tax, withholding taxes, PE considerations as well as the evolving OECD Pillar 1 & Pillar 2 projects
- Experience in partnering with colleagues to ensure tax positions are properly reflected in tax filings and financial statements
- Proven track record of consistent high-caliber performance and professional success
- Proficiency in English language is essential; Swedish language proficiency is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office skills
- Intellectually curious and eager to learn and develop every day

- Able to travel when necessary
