Summary
OneStream is seeking a Director of Technical Accounting to lead our Technical Accounting function. The Director of Technical Accounting will be responsible for the research and documentation of all complex accounting and significant and non-routine transactions, partnering with all aspects of the business to ensure accurate and timely technical accounting reviews of proposed transactions and draft contracts, drafting and updating accounting policies, leading accounting standard adoption, and performing the accounting for complex business transactions. This position will report to our Senior Director, Finance and Accounting.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing technical accounting research and creating formalized whitepapers on complex accounting topics and transactions.
- Partner with the Financial Reporting team on the coordination and preparation of SEC filings and ensure compliance to required presentation and disclosures.
- Provide oversight, guidance and coaching to members of the accounting organization.
- Communicate and present the analysis of complex accounting topics to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
- Analyze and document non-recurring transactions by properly identifying accounting implications of various explicit and implied terms, applying appropriate accounting rules and literature, as well as exercising judgement in subjective areas to draw reasonable and acceptable conclusions.
- Strategically partner with leadership to ensure alignment of direction and financial decisions.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Legal, Tax, and other stakeholders to understand, analyze, and provide support for complex accounting matters.
- Proactively monitor and assess the impact of regulatory trends and decisions from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
- Lead the implementation of new Accounting Standards Updates (ASUs) issued by the FASB.
- Evaluate current accounting practices and policies to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide support to the external reporting function, ensure financial statements and disclosures adhere to accounting principles generally accepted in the U.S. (U.S. GAAP).
- Work closely with the Company’s external auditors on various accounting matters, including the Company’s position on complex accounting transactions and other inquiries.
- Review new or amended contracts with customers and vendors and related accounting impacts.
- Provide support to the external reporting process with review of key accounting and related matters included in our SEC filing and assist with SEC filings as needed.
Required Education and Experience
- BA and/ or MS in Accounting or Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- 10+ years of experience in accounting and/ or public accounting.
- Public accounting experience working on publicly traded companies (Big 4 firm preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting.
- Extensive experience with complex accounting issues and technical accounting research.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with Corporate Performance Management (CPM) tools (OneStream preferred).
- Experience working with a SaaS business.
- Experience with Up-C Structures and ASC 810 Consolidation accounting and accounting for noncontrolling interests.
- Experience with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition.
- Experience with ASC 350/ 985 and software development cost accounting.
