In Subscription & Billing, we collect over a billion dollars of revenue every year. Our vision is to be the billing product for Xero that scales quickly, integrates easily, enables insights while delighting customers with a beautiful self service experience.
We're looking for an Associate Engineer to join our team and be based either in Wellington or Auckland.

What you'll do- Create software - Develop robust high quality software with guidance from senior engineers.
- Test software - Design and perform testing activities that reveal specific quality levels of a product in relation to identified risks and acceptance criteria.
- Resolve issues - Effectively triage and resolve issues identified during the development lifecycle or in production, and assist with the root cause analysis. May justify the significance of a problem to stakeholders in technical terms.
- Engineering standards & frameworks - Develop and deploy software in accordance with Xero standards.
- Continuous improvement - Grow knowledge of current and emerging development technologies and methodologies. Understand the competencies of the role and work through a development plan.
- Deliver infrastructure in a production environment - Contribute to automation of delivery processes, monitoring and alerting. Maintain build & deployment infrastructure with guidance.
- Modern software and delivery practices - Practice agile software development. Proactively work to improve team processes.
What you'll bring with you- At least 1-year of professional work experience.
- Proficient in using a primary language and ecosystem to maintain and extend the team's products. We use .NET/C# for our backend and React for frontend.
- Confidence in debugging and resolving locally.
- Able to regularly make minor code design decisions.
- Experience in maintaining team's APIs and client code.
- Familiarity with DevOps practises including CI/CD, containerization, configuration, monitoring, alerting. We primarily use AWS.
