As a Product Designer (at Senior, Lead or Principal level), you'll collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, our User Insights team and other cross-functional teams to craft a world-class products with embedded privacy and data protection features that will revolutionize the way people search, surf, and exist online.
Working on the Design team, you will help accelerate DuckDuckGo’s growth through Design across our current product offering (Search Engine, Mobile Browsers, Desktop browsers, Duck AI and more), as well as helping to pioneer new solutions as we build out the privacy layer for the Internet. Recent projects include:
Implementing our privacy-first AI chat into our search product
Launching screen animations for mobile
Updating the visual design of our mobile browsers to improve perceptions of product look and feel
Design and test alternative Duck Player mobile entry points and UX
You'll have the opportunity to level up our products through exploring and testing concepts that improve overall experience and increase delight while appealing to a broader audience.
With this role, we're eager to leverage not just your UX skills, but your ability to add creativity and delight to our products. You're visual designer at heart who cares about craft, challenging the norm and is eager to differentiate our brand through bold color, typography, motion, and interaction choices.
Applying your hands-on design skills, you will autonomously lead highly impactful projects that scale across millions of users. From ideation to execution, you'll assess vague problems, propose high-impact solutions, and execute them against a set of success criteria. You'll have a voice in all product-related design decisions, whether large or small, and an opportunity to work on a team dedicated to our ethical, privacy by design approach. About You
Minimum 6+ years of experience in product design roles, including 2+ years in senior-level design positions at significant global consumer brands (Senior).
Proficiency in managing projects of varying complexity, from proposal, through execution and release, all while working transparently and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and contributors.
A track record of leveraging visual design strengths to bring delight and creativity into apps with brave color, typography, and interaction choices.
A knack for pushing creative limits while solving challenging design problems and delivering craft and exceptional quality.
Ability to communicate visual and interaction recommendations with high-quality mockups, prototypes, and rationale.
Ability to write creative briefs that clearly define and communicate project goals, rationale, and success metrics with stakeholders.
Proficiency in research and experimentation — you can leverage both qualitative and quantitative data in driving decisions forward.
Skills to manage ambiguity and wrangle vague problems, propose innovative solutions, and execute them with a focus on metrics.
Ability to take initiative in generating ideas and carrying them forward with urgency and discretion, while working openly and collaboratively.
A willingness to apply your experience and expertise in educating, guiding, and supporting others, while serving as a steward to maintain quality of execution across designated areas of design.
Experience participating in multiple areas of the product process including prioritization, strategy, and user testing.
Compensation
$178,500 - $243,800 USD annually and stock options. Compensation is identical within professional levels, regardless of geographic location or team. Compensation for each professional level is transparent across the organization.

You’ll be required to attend meetings on camera via video conferencing
Expect to travel at least two times a year: once for our all-hands meetup and again for a team retreat (each around 4-5 days). While extenuating circumstances may impact attendance, everyone is strongly encouraged to attend.
While we offer a flexible work arrangement with no core hours, expect an average full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
