About the team/role
As a Software Engineer II on Checkr’s Core Services engineering team, you’ll be responsible for building and managing several tools and services, and the platform that Product Engineering teams rely on to deliver Checkr’s products and features. You’ll work closely with the other team members to enhance and support our existing features and develop new capabilities.
What you'll do
- Design, build, ship and maintain the core software libraries, tools, and patterns used by all of Checkr’s engineering teams
- Partner with product, design and other stakeholders in designing new features
- Collaborate with other engineers in architecting and implementing new features
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve our products
- Deliver performant, reliable, scalable, and secure code
- Monitor, investigate, triage, and resolve production issues as they arise for services owned by the team
What you bring
- 3+ years of full-stack software development experience
- Proficiency in Ruby or a similar programming language
- Experience managing an API Gateway like Kong
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms
- Experience with user authentication using Auth0 or similar authentication platforms
- Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as relational databases, data structure and algorithms, Object Relational Mapping, REST APIs, microservices, etc.
- Strong sense of ownership
- Ability to collaborate with teammates and other stakeholders
- An eagerness to learn, collaborate, improve, and innovate

The base salary range for this role is $119,259 to $140,305 in Denver, CO.
