Job Description

The 50+ engineering teams at Nexthink that develop our products rely on its Technical Platform to build, deploy, and scale our cloud infrastructure and services.
The Data Infrastructure team, part of the Technical Platform group, owns the data stores that support the ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval of events collected from millions of endpoints every second. It is responsible for the operations, automation, reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of all critical data infrastructure, including Kafka, Clickhouse, and Amazon Aurora clusters.

As a Platform Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Work with Architecture, Product Engineering and Security teams to design, develop and evolve the Data Infrastructure, following modern cloud-native best practices
- Help make the Technical Platform a self-service offering so that Product Engineering teams can easily and reliably build on top of it
- Contribute to Nexthink's tooling and automation frameworks for provisioning and scaling the infrastructure, with particular focus on resiliency and elasticity strategies.
Your team will also handle more operational aspects of the infrastructure, such as:
- Monitoring and Observability. Build and manage the tooling for monitoring the platform, and assessing the health of the data pipelines.
- Operational reliability: Manage the availability of the databases and streaming platforms. Understand and be able to communicate the scale, capacity, security, resilience and performance attributes and requirements.
- Incident management and response: Detect, diagnose and fix incidents at the required Service Levels. Own of the post-mortem process of such incidents by writing technical content both for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Have on-call responsibilities in rotation with the engineering team.
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer with knowledge of professional software development best practices
- Experience with distributed systems and streaming technologies; familiarity with Apache Kafka is desired
- Expertise with database cluster deployment (Amazon Aurora, Clickhouse, etc), configuration, backup/restore, and production operations
- Experience operating services on Linux systems and container technologies (e.g., Docker)
- Good knowledge of monitoring solutions (e.g. Datadog)
- Experience administering and deploying on cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS), using infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible), and pipeline creation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Experience with programming languages such as Go, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, and/or Bash
- Experience building self-service internal development platforms
- Experience in developing Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions
- At ease with operating and managing production systems, solving issues, and striking the right balance between urgency and methodology
- Strong problem-solving skills, proactive attitude, collaborative mindset and excellent organizational skills
- Curiosity to learn new things and discover new technologies
- Work with the agile iterative/incremental mindset
- Strong communication skills and professional level of English
