HubSpot's Developer Product Group is looking for a talented senior backend software engineer to join our Dev Infra Security team. Our team builds and maintains the infrastructure that allows HubSpot’s customers and partners to develop on HubSpot. We implement robust security measures to ensure that sensitive information, such as API tokens, are protected and not exposed on external platforms or unauthorized third-party websites. We're at the beginning of a project to overhaul our permissioning system for developers, giving customers more control and flexibility in how apps are permissioned.
We’re looking for someone with experience in building developer platforms/tooling, integrating with other platforms, and general security enthusiasts excited to help expand our developer platform. While we have a mature OAuth and Scope system to build apps that make API calls, we are limited on what developers can build for individual users, and how they can leverage custom data objects that map to particular user permissions within HubSpot. We want a senior engineer that can tackle difficult, abstract problems, work with other engineering teams, and come up with solutions that work for other HubSpot teams that build public APIs and varied features of apps, but also for our developers that build off of them. The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to define technical requirements within the purview of our systems.
A Great Candidate For This Role Will Have
- A bias for fixing problems with technology rather than process
- Proximity to the Boston, MA area - this team works out of the office a few days a week
- Interest and enthusiasm for developer platforms and tooling is a must.
- Experience with security, permissioning, and auth systems
- A proven ability to solve complicated technical problems and analyze trade-offs with empathy for developers
- Excitement around the latest trends and technologies in API security and the ability to integrate relevant advancements into the platform as appropriate
At HubSpot, Engineers Play To Their Strengths, But Are Aligned With HubSpot’s Mission And Show The Qualities That We’ve Found To Be Most Effective
- They understand our customer and business needs, as well as 3rd party developers and needs of other engineering teams at HubSpot.
- They understand how we build and why.
- They represent our mission, culture, and commitment to DI&B.
- They are excited to take on new challenges and look for opportunities to mentor and be mentored by their peers.
